Telegraph | Financial crisis : contemporary art market hit
The Independent : Art’s too expensive, says Hirst (worth £200m)
I think it’s quite good [adjustment in art market prices] because it became unreal … You start to think you are touched by God. I have always thought that art is worth what the next guy is prepared to pay.

“All artists represented in the Art Collection Deutsche Börse draw their motifs from the modern world: they show urbane life, people, nature, architecture. Their photographs are international and multicultural, inspiring and critical, bright and provocative”.
Fotomuseum (provincie antwerpen)
Twenty years of collecting photographs at the Getty
The Getty : Photo Study Collection Database
“The photography collection includes more than 400,000 photographs and negatives dating from the invention of photography to the present day. The collection embraces numerous landmark processes, objects of great rarity, and monuments of art history that trace the evolution of the medium as a technology, as a means of scientific and historical documentation, and as one of the most potent and accessible means of personal expression of the modern era”.
“Hasselblad Center har en växande fotografisk samling med verk av Hasselbladspristagare, som Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Wlliam Eggleston, Robert Frank, Sune Jonsson, Josef Koudelka, Lennart Nilsson, Christer Strömholm, Cindy Sherman, Hiroshi Sugimoto och Boris Mikhailov”.
“Among the Museum’s treasures from the early years of the medium are an extremely rare album of photographs by William Henry Fox Talbot made just months after he presented his invention to the public; a large collection of portrait daguerreotypes by the Boston firm of Southworth and Hawes; landscape photographs of the American West by Timothy O’Sullivan and Carleton Watkins; and fine examples of French photography from the 1850s by Édouard Baldus, Eugéne Cuvelier, Gustave Le Gray, Henri Le Secq, Nadar, and others”.

National Portrait Gallery | Bern Schwartz : Portraits of the 1970s, press release 10 July 2008
A new display at the National Portrait Gallery will show a selection of one of the biggest-ever gifts to the Gallery, 140 of the most iconic photographs of famous 20th century British subjects. The photographs are by Bern Schwartz (1914-1978), a Californian who turned to photography in his early sixties after a successful career in business. Taken between 1975 and 1978 they include portraits of Margaret Thatcher, Rudolf Nureyev, John Gielgud, Peggy Ashcroft, Lord Denning, the Prince of Wales, A J Ayer, Tony Benn, Zandra Rhodes and Twiggy. In addition to dye transfer photographs, the gift includes archival items comprising negatives, slides and proof prints. The Bernard Lee Schwartz Foundation has also funded the cataloguing and digitisation of the collection, and established a series of ‘Masters of Photography’ lectures to occur biannually over a six-year period.
